Law Student Association 

For many years MALSA has worked in conjunction with our partners at the New Mexico Hispanic Bar Association to host an annual Law Day at UNM School of Law. Law Day was designed to introduce students from New Mexico high schools to law school and the legal profession. And, it was intended to serve as a compliment to the New Mexico Hispanic Bar Association’s Summer Law Camp for middle school students. In 2015, MASLA was awarded a grant through the American Bar Association’s Next Steps Diversity Challenge for our work on the Law Day program.

In 2016, MALSA teamed up with the University of New Mexico Student Bar Association (SBA) to combine our Law Day program with the SBA’s Discover Law Day event, which is funded by the Law School Admission Council. Together we have made huge strides towards expanding the scope of the program. In 2016, we hosted over seventy students from high schools across the state at the University of New Mexico School of Law. In 2017, Law Day was held in March.
